 This
journal entry was written May 6.
The 4th grade class is continuing to persevere
and are focused on the finish line. The Atlantic
Ocean looms before them on the horizon about 200
miles away. They are closing in and are on
schedule to complete the trek by the last day of
the school year. This week the 4th graders left
West Virginia behind and entered the state of
Virginia,
the 13th state on their 15-state route. It won't
take them long to get through Virginia.
The
students enjoyed a visit from Robyn Malek this
week. She is "Mrs. Montana United States 2006"
and shared words of encouragement with the kids.
We appreciate Robyn taking time to visit Russell
Elementary and to share some details about her
endeavors. She sent another note of
encouragement this week, which is included below
in our "Encouraging Notes" section. Thanks
Robyn!
Paul
continues to prepare for his actual attempt at
the run across America. This week he traveled to
Cannon Beach, Oregon and examined the first 110
miles of the route from the coast, through
Portland, and into Washington state. You can
learn more details at
www.pacerun.com.
If
you're reading this, please take a moment to
encourage the 4th grade students who are nearing
the finish of this journey. While it is true
that the 5th grade class has already reached the
finish line, we want to continue to cheer on the
4th graders to the Atlantic coast. Please help
us do that by writing a short note of
encouragement.

WOW!
What a great idea. I am sending it on to two of our granddaughters
so they can take it to their schools for possible use next year. You
go, Kids. I know you will finish!!
