Quote
To Think About: "The
number of miles I have run since I was a toddler would have taken me
around the world several times, and I still cannot define precisely my
joy in running. There is no sacrifice in it. I lead what I regard a
normal life. In my case, I thoroughly enjoy running 100-odd miles a
week. If I didn't I wouldn't do it."

First of all, HAPPY
NEW
YEAR
to all who read this! The students are still on
their holiday vacation and will return to school
on Tuesday, January 3rd. At that time we will
collect their mileage sheets from the 11-day
vacation period and add up the total mileage for
both grades. We'll then be able to post an update
on their total distance and location by Thursday,
January 5. Assuming that each student completes
the 4 miles assigned as homework, that means the
4th grade class would add 220 miles to their
accumulated mileage and the 5th grade would add
160 miles. IF they've done their homework, both
classes would start the new year ahead of pace!
We'll just have to wait and see how they did!
We
think it would be great for you to start your new
year by sending a word of encouragement to the
students!

An Encouraging Note
We Received This Week: |
WOW!
What a fantastic idea. Congratulations to all the kids at Russell
Elementary. You must all be so proud of yourselves. All of us here
in Australia are on our Christmas holiday break but I will have all
my kids log on after the vacation and cheer you on to your goal.
What an inspiration. Cheering you on from downunder! Keep putting
one foot in front of the other and good luck.
