Meet The P.A.C.E. Run 2006 Team...

This solo run across America was only possible by the incredible voluntary efforts of particular individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help me, Paul, get to the finish line. They were not interviewed by newspaper or television crews... did not receive the daily accolades or support from the public that I was fortunate to have... and worked quietly behind the scenes. Aside from Tim Bamforth, the others were not able to be on the Delaware coast to see the culmination of their selfless efforts. I want those visiting this web site to be introduced to these outstanding people and learn the details about their main responsibilities during this journey. I consider each a true friend and when "Bob" and I reached the Atlantic on October 20, 2006 my shout of success over the ocean waves was also for them. Thank you Diana, Stacey, Rob, Brett and Tim. You are some of the most amazing people I've been blessed to know. Although P.A.C.E. Run 2006 was a solo endeavor, you truly ran each step with me. "Bob" and I couldn't have done it without you.

Diana Sontag - Lodging Coordinator
Diana was responsible for arranging nightly accommodations along the 15-state route. Committing countless hours on the phone in order to find people willing to take in a cross country runner for an evening, Diana successfully found lodging for every day of the journey - whether it be a home, hotel, church or hospital. She also provided assistance in navigating Paul through various cities via mapping directions conveyed by telephone.

Stacey Rossmiller - Funding Coordinator
Stacey organized fund-raising ideas to help support the efforts of P.A.C.E. Run 2006. She did so by opening a bank account, mailing letters to potential sponsors, overseeing the sale of P.A.C.E. shirts, organizing a raffle, and monitoring the trek's budget. She made it her goal to try and encourage donations so that the Staso family would not have to personally pay for the entire run across America.

Robert Remler - Web Site Manager
Rob kept "the world" aware of what was happening during the run across America by posting journal entries on this web site as well as pictures and videos, links to news articles, audio files, and much more. This is an extensive site and Rob updated it on a daily basis with details about the journey. He included mileage data, maps, posted the guestbook entries from visitors, and regularly updated the list of lodging and funding sponsors.

Brett Rodli - Web Site Support
There were times when Rob Remler could not perform updates to this web site and that is when Brett would step in to make certain that those following the trek had the latest information. Brett posted journal entries from visitors and put together some of the pages that appear in the photo gallery. With Brett's support it was possible to consistently have the web site updated so that the latest P.A.C.E. Run 2006 news was online.

Tim Bamforth - Finish Line Coordinator
Tim helped to organize the final days of the run across America, including a special welcome by the students of Shields Elementary School in Lewes, Delaware. He arranged for a couple of runners to escort Paul through the busy streets of Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C. and scheduled a post-run assembly at the school where he is a teacher. Tim organized various logistical details to ensure a successful and memorable finish.

There is so much more that these people did than what is briefly described above, including: handling media inquiries; arranging for special events and surprises; and, making certain that the path of P.A.C.E. Run 2006 could be conquered at each turn in the road. It truly was a team effort.
