Welcome to P.A.C.E. Run 2006 (Promoting Active Children Everywhere). This web site chronicles the 3,260-mile running trek of Paul Staso as he completed a solo and unsupported coast-to-coast run across America between June 23 and October 20, 2006 at the age of 41. The trek required 108 running days and the northerly route included 15 states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, W. Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware (and Wash. D.C.).

P.A.C.E. Run 2006 was the direct result of a determined running and walking effort by 97 students at Russell Elementary School in Missoula, Montana (seeusrun.com). Paul's main purpose was to fulfill a promise he made to his wife's P.E. students. He also wanted the run to increase awareness in kids about the importance of health and fitness. Paul's run began on the Oregon coast and ended on the shore of Delaware. His grueling trek took him over the Northern Rocky Mountains, traversing barren plains, into numerous towns and cities, across the steep Appalachian Mountain Range, and through the 2nd hottest summer recorded in U.S. history - all while pushing the weight of his gear!
